Fake policemen cheating pensioners

Eupen / Aachen - swindlers have deceived many retirees from North Rhine-Westphalia by half a million euros.
The attackers had disguised themselves as policemen. In the Belgian St. Vith and Malmedy, they stopped the cars of senior citizens and said they were on the lookout for counterfeit money.
The plan was well thought out: Their victims were mostly on the way back from banks in Luxembourg. They had some large amounts of cash there.
The false police searched the car and confiscated their money. The justification for the fraudsters, the money must be checked for authenticity.
Their savings, of course, never saw the victim again. The police now suspect that the dark figure of the betrayed pensioners is much higher.
Some might have fear of the German tax authorities and the fraudsters were therefore not appropriate, the Aachen police.
